Learn About Juneteenth

During our 2nd Saturday Downtown on June 12th, you are invited to learn about Juneteenth! There are two ways to learn.

Story Walk
Read “Juneteenth” by Lisa A. Crayton as you stroll up Main Street,  starting at The Firestone. Discuss the reading comprehension questions on THIS FORM. The pages will be in the windows of the businesses listed next to each question.  There is no need to write down your answers, just talk about them together as you read. Making text-to-self and text-to-world connections is an important reading strategy. It is also a great way to build connections with people and cultures that differ from your own.  These story pages will remain up through Monday, June 21st.  You can visit Downtown Main Street and complete the Story Walk at anytime. (If you complete it on Saturday, 6/12 by 12:30pm you could win a prize!)

Planter Signs
Informational Posters are located in the planters along Main Street. These facts can be found between Eldridge Street and Purnell Place. Go on a hunt and record as many answers as you can! Complete this activity on Saturday, 6/12 for a chance to win a prize! These signs will remain up for this weekend only.
